In the 2nd program of the 20th season of the Swedish broadcast show Sverige!, the famous Swedish actress Alexandra Rapaport claimed that her father’s parenting brought her confidence and contributed quite a lot to her success in life as an actress — although she first grew up being “her mother’s daughter”.
But when Alexandra was ten, her mother passed away, leaving her with her father as the sole caretaker. Until then, he had not had the primarty parenting role in the family, but changes were to come — and obviously successful changes! As she implicated in the interview, her mother leaving them thus became an opportunity of growth and development for both of them, although the traumatic incident with her mother was to haunt her later in life.
This may be an example of what e.g. researchers like Dr Warren Farrell have claimed before, that children growing up without their fathers tend to become less successful in their lives.
